Peer Support Groups
You can often feel isolated as a result of your caring role and we understand how important it is to have access to emotional support and someone to talk to. We therefore deliver regular peer support groups across the borough of North Tyneside to allow you the opportunity to:
- Talk to other carers
- Exchange practical advice and share experiences
- Access ongoing emotional support
- Relax with a coffee and take some time out from caring
Because we understand how difficult it can be to access support for the first time, you will be greeted by a worker or volunteer who will make you feel welcome, offer you refreshments and introduce you to other carers. If you are unable to leave the person you care for to attend any of our groups, please contact the Centre and we will discuss the options available to you.

Aims of the Working Group:
- To offer peer support and information about the benefits of Direct Payments or the process associated with it
- To provide a platform for people to share their own experiences, or represent the views of the wider community
- To ensure that the service reflects the needs of the people who use it
- Enable people to share good practice and raise areas of concern
- Give ideas and suggestions on how services could be improved
