Coronavirus (COVID-19) and North Tyneside Carers’ Centre – Friday 24th July 2020
Coronavirus (COVID-19) and North Tyneside Carers’ Centre
Friday 24th July 2020
We are very aware that as lockdown measures ease and businesses start to reopen, carers remain concerned about leaving their home and people coming into their home, due to the vulnerability of the people they care for. Many of the carers who we have spoken to over the last few continue to struggle on daily basis, unable to take a break from their caring responsibilities.
Our staff team are working from home to provide carers with practical and emotional support, during these turbulent times. We are delivering a programme of online support groups and social activities for young and adult carers to help keep carers connected and give them the opportunity to talk to others and share experiences.
We recognise how vitally important it is, that we can work safely to support the health and wellbeing of our team and carers who access our services. Therefore, our team will continue working from home until we are satisfied that we can work safely delivering face to face services to minimise the risk of spreading of the virus.
Earlier in the year we made a decision to move to new premises – the Saville Exchange on Howard Street in North Shields. As a result of Covid, this move has been delayed but that does not diminish our excitement to share our news. We see this as a fresh start, after a very difficult few months for all, in what is our 25th anniversary since we were established. The new premises offer ground floor, accessible rooms for carers and the building has a lovely feel to it. We can’t wait to welcome you!
We will be moving out of our current premises in the YMCA on the 31st July 2020. Please forward any correspondence to us at:
