Would you like to make a positive impact on the lives of young carers in North Tyneside?

At North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, we have a great opportunity to work with young carers aged 5-18, who care for a family member due to illness, disability, mental health difficulties or alcohol/substance misuse.

As a Family Support Worker, you will focus on the needs of young carers to reduce inappropriate or excessive levels of care and bring about long-lasting change to enable them to have the same opportunities as other children and young people.  You will provide practical and emotional support to meet the needs of the whole family.

You must have:

• have experience of working with children, young people and their families
• an understanding of social care, health and education services
• be able to adopt a whole family approach
• possess excellent group facilitation skills
• demonstrate good communication and organisational skills
• work as part of a team
• have the ability to work flexible hours
• the ability to travel throughout North Tyneside
