Are you an excellent communicator with a genuine desire to improve the lives of carers in North Tyneside?

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our friendly team as a Carers Information and Advice Worker.

If you have experience providing information and advice to people and can demonstrate you are caring and compassionate, we would like to hear from you. As a Carers Information and Advice Worker you will deliver a range of practical and emotional support interventions to unpaid carers including:

• providing tailored information, advice and guidance to carers; over the telephone and face to face
• providing emotional support to enable carers to offload in a safe space
• undertaking a light touch assessment to understand carers’ caring responsibilities and the challenges they face
• helping carers understand the health and social care system and local services which may help them
• referring carers to other appropriate services to increase their support network
• encouraging carers to access the range of interventions provided by the Centre to help them in their caring role and to maintain their wellbeing
• facilitating peer support groups and wellbeing groups as required.

You must have:

• a minimum of 2 years’ experience of providing information and advice to individuals
• experience of assessing needs
• a good understanding of health and social care and legislation affecting carers
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• an approachable and caring attitude
• the ability to travel throughout North Tyneside
