Training Sessions for Professionals

We work with carers to deliver a range of carer awarness training to health and social care professionals and students, as well as staff from other Local Authority services such as Customer Service Centres and libraries. 

 

Carers Week 2016

Carers Week is a nationwide campaign which aims to raise awareness and recognition for carers and the huge contribution they make. This year’s theme is Carer Friendly Communities.

Join us for Afternoon Tea

On Wednesday 8 June, we are hosting an Afternoon Tea and networking event at Wallsend Customer First Centre, 16 The Forum, Wallsend NE28 8JR, from 2pm - 4pm.

2pm - 3pm: You will hear stories from carers and we will showcase resources including a new App and an animated short film designed by local young carers. We will also look at the impact of the Carers Charter.

3pm - 4pm: Enjoy Afternoon Tea and the chance to network with our team and other professionals.

We offer free and bespoke training packages in the following areas:

Carer Awareness Training

In this training session staff will gain a better understanding of a carers' role and responsibilities through insights into various assumptions, practices, issues and factors that prevent carers from accessing essential support and services. 

Involving Carers  

In this training session we will look at the ways in which you and your organisation can benefit by involving carers and explore some of the barriers that may prevent carers from becoming involved.

Working with and Valuing Carers

In this training session we will explore how professionals can recognise the contribution of individual carers, and treat them as an expert partner in care.

Young Carers Awareness and Identification

In this training session staff will gain a better understanding of a young carers' role and responsibilities. Staff will explore the impact caring can have on a young carer, and also consider how to identify a young carer.

Supporting Young Carers

In this training session we will look at the ways in which you and your organisation can support young carers.
